Back to School or Not
I love fall. I always have. The crispness of the air and the changing of leaves on the trees. This is the time that as parents we are usually super excited about...Back to School. School has taken on a completely new meaning for the majority of us. We are navigating online learning and instead of our kids running off to class, we are trying to prepare space for them in our often chaotic home life to learn. As parents we are trying to figure out how to work from home while helping our kids with school and sometimes the frustrations of technology. (Who are we kidding, not just sometimes.)
We are still mourning the loss of our normalcy and all the things we feel like our kids are missing out on. Whether it is academic or social we feel as though the year has been stolen from us. Here in Oregon, our kids start dates have been delayed not only by this new learning environment but by the fires that have continued to ravage our beautiful home.
Homeschooling is tough in the best of times and even more so when it was not what was in your plans for your child's education. If you are anything like us, you are constantly wondering if this is the best education for your children. I mean I am not cut out to be a teacher and I thank all that is that there are amazing people that are. Let's remember that this new environment is just that "NEW." It's new for us, it's new for our kids and it's new for our educators. It isn't going to be easy for any of us so let's remember that we are all learning something new and there will be lots of frustrations along the way but we can get through it, together.
